24 Aug 2021

“Etihad Water and Electricity” has completed 92% of its project to replace the old water networks with higher efficiency ones in various regions as part of a plan to replace old networks with a total length of about 370 km in order to reduce technical losses in the network to a minimum.
Director General of “EtihadWE”, Mohammad Mohammad Saleh, said that a number of transmission and distribution projects have been launched to extend pipelines of various sizes and lengths in most regions, at a total cost of more than one billion dirhams. It is planned to complete them successively until the second half of 2023.
He explained that the total lengths of the water networks currently reach 8,310 km, while the total lengths of the future networks to be completed during the next five years are about 4,825 km, including the old networks that will be replaced.
Saleh pointed out that achieving the objective of reducing water losses is supported by the use of the latest global technologies related to the field, such as electromagnetic valves to control the water level inside the tanks, as well as the technologies of (XP) and (VFD) devices.
Saleh stated that 72 major maintenance operations were recorded until the end of June 2021, including civil, mechanical and electrical works, maintenance of equipment, pumping stations, main transport networks, water tanks and distribution centers.
