05 Jul 2021

Mohammad Mohammad Saleh, Director General of ‘EtihadWE’, stated to "Al Bayan" that Etihad Water and Electricity's initiatives aimed at rationalizing consumption have achieved promising results in recent years. In the water sector, databases show a reduction of about 3.4 billion gallons over 6 years, including 1.33 billion gallons during 2020, a reduction of 34% compared to previous years.
In the electricity sector, the "Your Home is our Priority" initiative, which was launched in 2017, has achieved a reduction in consumption estimated at 1.58 million kilowatt-hour until the end of 2020, with a reduction of 10%.
Saleh stressed that ‘EtihadWE’ pays special attention to the issue of rationalizing consumption and links it to its business plans. In this regard, it is following up the implementation of the related initiatives during the upcoming summer when consumption rates rise more, including workshops and virtual lectures and media messages, in addition to the general tendency to apply the latest technologies and innovations related to the field of work in order to achieve actual rationalization. He pointed to its keenness to use technical rationalization mechanisms, including energy and water rationalization devices, whether in its affiliated buildings, other buildings, or citizens' homes.
He said that the power peak load during the past year 2020 was recorded during July and amounted to 3,400 megawatts, as for the water sector, it reached 152 million gallons distributed over all regions.
