Engineer Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE), emphasized the need to adopt sustainable practices to achieve water security, especially in light of the global water crisis that affects nearly a third of the world's population.
Speaking on World Water Day, Al Ali stressed the importance of adopting the principles of this day, including solidarity and finding solutions to enhance water security. He highlighted that water is a crucial resource for achieving sustainable growth and called for the integration of national efforts to optimally allocate water resources in line with the leadership's path to water security. He reiterated the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, who once stated that "water is more important than oil for the UAE."
Al Ali further stressed that Etihad Water and Electricity is taking steps towards achieving water security by reducing the water scarcity index, maintaining water quality, and raising the efficiency of its use through optimal allocation of water resources. Additionally, the company is focused on establishing a culture of rationalization.
