A virtual meeting was held yesterday between the "Etihad Water and Electricity" and the "Federal Geographic Information Center" to discuss the preparatory work related to the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Project.
During the meeting, a number of basic axes related to the project were discussed, such as the main works of the «Etihad WE» in which geospatial information is used, the legislation and laws of this field, the geospatial information that is produced through it, its standards and specifications, as well as the current or planned projects to produce or obtain geospatial information and the electronic systems used in it.
The meeting touched on the systems and mechanisms of linking with national networks for the exchange of geospatial information, the electronic services and applications at the "Etihad WE" and its plans for training and qualifying national cadres in this field.
It is noteworthy that the UAE-NSDI project was launched last February. It aims to provide a strategy and roadmap of better coordinate and leverage government investment in geospatial data and applications.
