Fujairah Tabbah Championship Kicks Off on 22 February

The UAE Sports for All Federation announced the commencement of the Fujairah Tabbah Championship, on 22 and 23 February, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

This was disclosed at a press conference attended by Saeed Al Aajil, Vice President of the UAE Sports for All Federation, Ahmed Al Abdouli, Director of Community Sports at the Ministry of Sports, and Saif Al Neyadi, Head of the Tabbah Committee in the Federation. Shaikha Murad AlBlooshi, Senior Vice President at EtihadWE, the community sponsor of the championship, and Jassim Alobaidli, Director of Youth Interaction at the Federal Youth Authority, were also present.

Saeed Al Aajil stated that the championship is not just a sports competition but a celebration of authentic cultural heritage, offering an ideal opportunity for young people to discover and hone their skills in a challenging and exciting environment.

Saif Al Neyadi mentioned that Fujairah has completed preparations to host the championship, promising an unprecedented edition that exceeds all expectations in terms of organisational quality and public engagement.

Shaikha Murad AlBlooshi, Senior Vice President at EtihadWE, emphasised the importance of the championship, noting it reflects community cohesion and fosters a spirit of healthy competition among youth, alongside heritage values, within a family-oriented atmosphere that translates a shared passion for traditional sports.

Jassim Alobaidli highlighted the championship's role in encouraging youth participation in sports activities and the significance of engagement in such events.

It is noted that the game of Tabbah is one of the most prominent traditional group sports that forms a part of the UAE's culture. It is a community sport under the umbrella of the UAE Sports for All Federation, played with traditional tools according to specific rules, and contributes to enhancing local traditions and the spirit of teamwork among participants.
