The UAEV is a strategic joint initiative between Etihad Water and Electricity and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, announced at the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) 2024. The UAEV's formation aims to expand and develop electric vehicle charging facilities throughout the UAE, accelerate the transition to a clean transportation system, enhance the efficiency of the transport sector, and support the UAE's Net-Zero Strategy 2050.

The development of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure is expected to spur economic growth, create job opportunities, and foster innovation in new technologies, in addition to its numerous positive environmental impacts.
