Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EtihadWE) organized a series of informative workshops regarding the Conference of Parties on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP), in preparation for its 28th edition to be hosted in the United Arab Emirates from November 30 to December 12. Approximately 140 team members attended these workshops.
The COP conference serves as the international authority responsible for making crucial decisions related to the provisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This convention represents an international treaty aimed at combating hazardous human interference in the global climate system. The United Arab Emirates ratified the convention on December 20, 1995, according to Federal Decree No. (61) for the year 1995.
This year's conference agenda includes various topics to be presented to international leaders addressing environmental and climate issues. Key among these is the expansion of climate action through several focal points, including adopting clean energy options, transforming national economies into low-carbon, green economies, enhancing the sustainability of the transportation sector, and increasing reliance on future-oriented methodologies and mechanisms. Additionally, the conference will address mechanisms for preserving marine life, financing the International Fund for Loss and Damage, and involving youth in climate action. The conference will also witness the conclusion of the Global Assessment on Climate Change.
EtihadWE will actively participate in several conference events, including a youth circle on sustainable water management. This session aims to shed light on the challenges of water scarcity and climate change, sustainable agricultural techniques, and efficient water resource management.
