Strategic Partnership Between Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) and Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWGA)

Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWGA). Under this agreement, the company will supply the Authority's network with desalinated drinking water through specified points. The agreement aims to enhance the strategic connection of water systems in the UAE, in line with its Water Security Strategy 2036.

HE Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EtihadWE, explained that the agreement reflects the leadership's vision for integrating water resources and enhancing the use of water infrastructure in the UAE, to ensure its sustainability and continuity of access in various natural and emergency circumstances. This is one of the most important pillars of the Water Security Strategy. He affirmed that public institutions working in sensitive and strategic sectors in the UAE, such as water and electricity, share a common goal of providing and developing their services to citizens and beneficiaries of all segments, according to the highest levels of efficiency and quality.

His Excellency noted that the optimal management of natural resources can effectively contribute to the UAE's efforts to achieve sustainability and build a green economy. He confirmed that the agreement signed between Etihad Water and Electricity Company and Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority falls within this type of resource management, especially for its role in securing continuity of water supplies.

For his part, Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity, explained that the agreement will supply Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority's water network with a daily quantity of up to 37 million gallons of water, contributing to meeting the growing demand for water in Sharjah. Eng. Ali expressed his pride in partnering with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, emphasizing that it strengthens the bonds of mutual cooperation between the two parties and aims to achieve the leadership's vision for the development and sustainability of this vital sector in the UAE.

HE Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, affirmed the authority's keenness to collaborate and coordinate efforts with all institutions, departments, and companies in the UAE to provide high-quality services and achieve sustainable development in line with the vision and directives of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

He pointed out that the agreement will contribute to providing the necessary amounts of water for development projects and expansions in various areas of Sharjah City, and ensuring the sustainability and continuity of water under natural conditions and during emergencies, through three designated connection sites on Al Muntazah Street, the Hamda Pumping Station, and Emirates Road.

Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, confirmed that the authority's strategic axes include integrated management of water resources and continuous study of the expected growth in water demand, and that the authority is doing its utmost to meet current and future needs in various areas. It will continue to implement its vision, which aligns with the wise government's vision to continue improving the infrastructure of essential facilities and using the latest technologies to meet the needs of all residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial sectors.
