Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EtihadWE) recently participated in a symposium on “Advanced Water Management Policies and Technologies” held at the headquarters of the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) in Seoul. This symposium was organized within the framework of the UAE-Korea Committee for Cooperation in Water Resources. The delegation from the UAE was headed by Ahmed Mohammed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for Electricity, Water and Future Energy Sector at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, while the Korean Water Policy Office, K -water, and the Korean Ministry of Environment represented Korea at the event.
During the symposium, several important topics were discussed, with a focus on the role of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in enhancing water sustainability. The UAE delegation also had the opportunity to learn about Korea’s experience in utilizing AI and digital twinning for managing water production plants and networks, as well as Samsung's ultra-pure water production plant used in the manufacturing of electronic chips and precision industries.
On the sidelines of the symposium, Ahmed Al Kaabi met with Han Wha-jin, the South Korean Minister of Environment. The discussion centered on ways to strengthen the UAE-Korean partnership in water resources management, as well as other areas of mutual interest. Additionally, they explored Korea's participation in the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP), which the UAE will host in November 2023.
