The Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EtihadWE), Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, paid a visit to the MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, as part of a series of mutual visits aimed at strengthening the bonds of cooperation between UAE institutions.
The meeting aimed to discuss areas of partnership between the two parties, including strategies for integrating clean and renewable energy sources, as well as the use of modern technologies to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of electricity and water networks.
During the meeting, Al Tayer discussed DEWA's plans and projects in the field of energy aimed at enhancing its competitive position. He highlighted the objectives of the "Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050" and the "Dubai Carbon Emission Strategy 2050," which aim to provide 100% of Dubai’s total power capacity from clean energy sources by 2050. Furthermore, he provided details about the "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park" which, upon completion, will contribute to reducing more than 6.5 million tons of carbon emissions annually. These initiatives support Dubai's goals in promoting sustainable development and the green economy.
In response, Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, the CEO of EtihadWE, discussed the company's pivotal role in ensuring water security and developing the infrastructure of the electric power sector. As one of the largest service institutions in the UAE, the company is the main provider of water and electricity to nearly 1.5 million consumers across five emirates, guided by the insightful vision of the leadership, with regard to the sustainability of these vital sectors and ways to manage them.
Eng. Yousif touched on the company's most significant strategic projects, including the new desalination plant in UAQ with a production capacity of 150 million gallons per day, the strategic storage and distribution center recently put into service, and the company's use of modern technologies and the latest innovations in establishing its tanks.
At the end of the visit, Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali expressed his pleasure at meeting HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, his pride in the partnership between EtihadWE and DEWA, and his aspirations to explore new horizons for this partnership during the next stage.
