Engineer Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) affirmed the company's commencement of the practical implementation of the support program dedicated to farmers this month. This initiative aligns with the generosity of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, as announced weeks ago. The program involves an expansion of support for electricity costs designated for farmers, now encompassing all farm owners who are citizens in the Northern regions, totalling approximately 9,000 farms.
Al Ali expressed gratitude for this generous initiative, highlighting its reflection of an authentic approach ingrained and witnessed in the wise leadership of the UAE. The leadership, since the inception of the Union entity, has consistently demonstrated commitment to benevolence and launching initiatives aimed at ensuring the happiness and well-being of citizens across various levels. He emphasized that this specific initiative adds a new dimension by actively involving citizens in the process of supporting food security.
The CEO of EtihadWE stated that through the support program, the tariff paid by citizens will not exceed 7.5 fils per kilowatt-hour, as opposed to the original tariff ranging between 28 to 33 fils. He confirmed that this support will encourage farmers to diversify their crops and increase production, contributing to meeting the needs of local markets for various food items.
