Collaboration Between EtihadWE and UAQU to Install EV Chargers at the University’s Premises

As part of the implementation of the transformational project "Global Market for Electric Vehicles," and in line with the company's efforts to strengthen collaborative ties with various stakeholders and relevant authorities in achieving the ambitious national project's goals, Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EtihadWE) signed a cooperation agreement with Umm Al Quwain University (UAQU). Under this agreement, several electric vehicle chargers will be installed and operated at the university's premises.

The agreement was signed by Ahmed Hassan Al Ali, the Executive Director of Customer Happiness at EtihadWE, and on behalf of the UAQU by Professor Dr. Jalal Hatem, the University's Director, in the presence of officials from both sides.

Engineer Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, the CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity, previously stated at the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (IVIS) held in Abu Dhabi a few months ago that the company would play an active role in the national transformational project "Global Market for Electric Vehicles." He appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in planning and managing the project, emphasizing that it would significantly contribute to realizing the leadership's vision on multiple levels, particularly in terms of energy and transportation sustainability and reducing carbon footprint.

Commenting on the current agreement, Ahmed Hassan Al Ali, Executive Director of Customer Happiness at the company, emphasized that the agreement with UAQU marks the beginning of a series of collaborative agreements following the announcement of the "Global Market for Electric Vehicles" transformational project. He confirmed that additional similar agreements with various entities and institutions in the northern regions would follow, in line with the plan for establishing and upgrading the charging stations, which were developed after the project's announcement in late May.

Professor Dr. Jalal Hatem, the UAQU's Director, affirmed that the signing of this agreement is in line with practical solutions to secure an environment compatible with the UAE's pursuit of sustainability.

In addition to its academic activities, the university is actively engaged in scientific research and community involvement. It has an institute dedicated to the economy of the future and offers training courses related to contemporary issues, particularly sustainability and digitization. The university also carries out various activities that align with Umm Al Quwain Blue Economy Strategy.
