"Alittihad" Sheds Light on the Water and Electricity Sectors in UAQ

Under the title of "Umm Al Quwain...An Ancient History and a Strategic Location", Alittihad newspaper published a press report on the emirate, shedding light on the development achievements it witnessed during the past few years.

The report stated that Etihad Water and Electricity has started operating the new water desalination plant in Umm Al Quwain with a capacity of 150 million gallons per day, which represents one of the largest projects of its kind in the country and the region. The aforementioned station is located in Al Madfaq on an area of 250,000 square meters, with a cost of about 2.2 billion dirhams.

The report also stated that the station, which will serve the northern regions of the country, is an environmentally friendly station, as pre-construction studies have been conducted and most of the water network has been modernized, including main transmission and distribution lines, water tanks and pumping stations.

The report touched on the electricity sector, as it stated that there are 72 power stations in Umm Al Quwain distributed in various regions. They were established within the development projects of Etihad Water and Electricity in Umm Al Quwain to keep pace with urban development and the industrial boom taking place in it, while maintaining the quality of services provided to the public.
