Inauguration of the water desalination plant in Umm Al Quwain.. and production at the end of 2021 AD

Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, Director General of the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, revealed the inauguration of work in the first phase of the water desalination plant project in Umm Al Quwain, which is scheduled to start actual production at the end of the next year 2021 AD with a capacity of 50 million gallons per day. When the rest of its stages are completed, the project capacity will reach 150 million gallons per day.
Heh said in an interview with Al Ittihad newspaper that the UAE puts the water sector at the top of its priorities, because of its great importance in achieving the required and sustainable development of all sectors, and the country has reflected this importance through a number of plans, strategies and projects that have been implemented during the past years and contributed to making the state occupy the globally advanced ranks in the desalination sector by producing about one billion and 400 million gallons per day. He pointed out that the authority, based on the UAE Water Security Strategy approved by the government for the year 2036 AD, is implementing an integrated system of projects for the water sector, headed by the production sector, then storage, transportation and distribution, and all these projects serve the objectives of the authority and the needs of the regions served by it, which currently reaches 130 million gallons per day. He stated that according to a study conducted by the authority, these needs will double to 260 million gallons per day by the year 2036 AD.
